VisionABLE

Manila

VisionABLE MANILA is an awareness initiative that focuses on the importance of accessible signage in public spaces especially for individuals with low vision or blurred eyesight. The project aims to highlight how people with visual impairments navigate the city and what barriers they face due to poor or inaccessible signage.

This platform gathers stories, experiences, and insights from people affected by these issues including persons with disabilities, and  designers.  VisionABLE MANILA uses these conversations to educate the public, promote inclusive thinking, and encourage more mindful practices in how signage is planned and implemented.

Through its website, documentary, and content materials, the project hopes to inspire both awareness and action

This is a very great initiative! I really do struggle with public signage, specially when driving at night. I always feel there are some “gotchas” that will surprise me because I can’t see the signage that are supposed to guide me.

it’s really frustrating. so many public signages around Metro Manila are damaged or completely worn out. Some are barely readable, It’s so disappointing, especially for commuters and people who aren’t familiar with the area.

Kaya nga! Imbis na makatulong, nakakaabala yung ibang public signage lalo na dito sa metro manila hindi mo maintindihan eh

This project is a real eye-opener, it really highlights the need for a better system for signages here in the philippines. It seems like signages are often overlooked, leading to these useful markers all around metro manila all delapidated, which is sad and makes me wonder “if these signages are that useful, why are they not maintained well?”.

I find this very real talk when it comes to the signages here in the Philippines! Most of the signage are worn out and minsan maduming tingnan ! As a driver signages are helpful and big deal to us! Na sana ay mabigyang pansin din ng gobyerno to enhance !

This idea really touched me. It shows genuine care for people who often get overlooked in public spaces. Improving signage for those with poor eyesight can make a world of difference in someone’s daily life—thank you for thinking about them
