About VisionABLE Manila

Our story, mission, and vision for an accessible Metro Manila

Who We Are

VisionABLE Manila is a student-led advocacy project dedicated to raising awareness about the daily challenges faced by people with visual impairments, especially those with low vision, when navigating public spaces with inaccessible or poorly designed signage. Our mission is to highlight these real experiences and push for a more inclusive, readable, and accessible signage system in Metro Manila.

Through a documentary style video, personal stories, point-of-view visuals, and a carefully designed website, we aim to help the public understand how much signage affects safety, independence, and mobility. We believe that accessibility is not a privilege, it is a basic part of good urban design.

This website serves as an educational and advocacy platform where visitors can learn about the importance of accessible signage, compare effective versus ineffective designs, and explore practical solutions. We provide breakdowns, visual guides, recommendations, and interactive tools to encourage learning and engagement.

Our Impact

Most importantly, VisionABLE Manila gives a voice to people with visual disabilities helping their stories reach government agencies, designers, city planners, and everyday commuters. By spreading awareness and promoting inclusive design, we hope to inspire meaningful change and contribute to safer, kinder, and more accessible public spaces for everyone.

Our Mission

Our mission is to demonstrate the daily challenges faced by people with visual impairments when navigating public spaces with inaccessible or poorly designed signage. We aim to educate the public and government stakeholders about the importance of creating signage that is inclusive, readable, and accessible. Through storytelling, visual guides, and practical recommendations, we advocate for a safer and more accessible environment in the Philippines' transportation and pedestrian systems, giving people with visual disabilities a voice and promoting understanding, inclusivity, and hope for all commuters.

Our Vision

We envision a Metro Manila where public spaces are fully accessible to people with visual impairments. Our goal is a society in which signage systems are inclusive, readable, and safe, allowing everyone regardless of vision ability to navigate with independence and confidence. Through awareness, education, and advocacy, we aim to inspire meaningful change in urban design, ensuring that people with visual disabilities are represented, heard, and empowered in every aspect of city life.
